The Inherited Gift of Fire

 Much has been said about the early Greek figure Prometheus. The tail is told in ancient Greek lore that Prometheus spited the gods by taking their creation, fire, and bequeathing it and understanding of it in regards to fire to humankind as we now know it. A Frank Luntz term goes thusly. Promethean fire is just like in your house man, it can heat it or it can burn it down. Prometheus was punished by Zeus for giving mankind the gift of fire. We must all be scratching our heads and looking at the damnation we've gotten ourselves into nowadays with an entire industry based on the second and third laws of thermodynamics. But here we are.  Mankind. Encapsulating fire. The fire of the gods. Those same gods that Prometheus and his hubris so offended, by stealing fire from the gods and giving it to mankind. His punishment in ancient lore, so it goes, was that he spent eternity in h a d e s on a large craggy Rock having his intestines liver gallbladder etc pecked at eternally for scraps of red meat. Who who of us nowadays are not like Prometheus, who of us? For me he has paid the price for giving mankind the gift of fire. From then on people knew the fire givers get their livers pecked at by vultures on a large craggy Rock for eternity. Repent!
